A popular project portfolio management product is now available for purchase on the cloud computing portal Apps.gov. WorkLenz, a product that portfolio management software developer Métier Ltd. started offering 10 years ago, hit the government storefront earlier this month. "For us, it's a natural extension of what we've been doing for the past few years," said Sara Kessinger, Director of Knowledge Management at Arlington, Va.-based Métier. "It's a way for us to bring enterprise software to the government at a lower cost of ownership."

DOT's CIO office wanted to move from a project-centric approach to a more transparent, portfolio-based approach.The CIO’s office has deployed on-demand project and portfolio management software from Métier for capital planning and investment control. A Washington, D.C. area project and portfolio management software company has chosen Santa Rosa for its first off-site branch that could someday employ up to 125 people.  Métier Ltd. has leased temporary quarters in a Railroad Square building for a small staff and is scouting the area for a space to accommodate up to 125 employees, according to founder, president and CEO Doug Clark.

Baltimore to receive 2,500 new jobs through Census work
The U.S. Census Bureau unveiled one of three data capture centers today in Baltimore, Maryland. The processing center will receive mailed questionnaires from households across the nation during the 2010 Census. Lockheed Martin will manage the center along with subcontractor Computer Science Corp. (CSC), who will be overseeing the hiring efforts for the expected 2,500 new employees. Along with CSC, other Lockheed partners include IBM, Vangent, Cardinal Technologies Services, Metier, Evolver and others.

Grand Opening: Baltimore 2010 Census Forms Data Capture Center
Métier's Chief Executive Officer, Douglas Clark, and Chief Operating Officer, Sandra Richardson, are attending the grand opening of the Baltimore 2010 Census Forms Data Capture Center on June 29, 2009.  The facility is the first of three that will open across the nation and will process approximately 40 million census forms next year. Nearly 3,000 workers will be hired and trained to process 2010 Census forms at the Baltimore center.  The event includes speakers and tours of the facility and will feature Métier and other small business partners.
