Métier Technology Maps the Project Portfolio with Enterprise Architecture, Delivering Unmatched IT Governance Support
Métier, Ltd., an innovator in predictive project portfolio management software and services, today announced new functionality that extends the project portfolio.
The taxonomy, or classification system, in the WorkLenz portfolio management software can now include mapping to an organization's enterprise architecture (EA). The WorkLenz Enterprise Architecture Extension provides clients with unmatched decision support in selecting project investments. This extension provides the fusion of the "as is" and "to be" architectures with project delivery. This seamless integration of project and IT management results in more effective capital planning, IT governance and actionable decision-making for the evolving IT architecture.
WorkLenz provides objective, automated assessments and reports that drive disciplined decisions about whether to repair, replace or augment existing systems in the architecture. The WorkLenz EA Extension models an organization's "as is" architecture to eliminate redundancies and increase control of capital investment, using existing EA data elements mapped to the overall project portfolio taxonomy. For the "to be" vision, the WorkLenz EA Extension ensures the proper alignment of investments to tactical and strategic direction. By integrating the EA with the WorkLenz portfolio taxonomy, Métier clients can more effectively manage their lifecycle methodology, legacy portfolio and IT governance process.
The first application supported in the WorkLenz EA Extension is Popkin Software's System Architect. The modular technology of the WorkLenz EA Extension is based on XML and can be easily configured to map to other EA systems.
META Group senior vice president Richard Buchanan notes, "Organizations are making serious efforts to improve their maturity in Project Portfolio Management as well as Enterprise Architecture. Unfortunately, these processes and disciplines usually remain at arms length from each other, conducted by separate organizations that rely on distinct technology platforms. Such 'balkanization' delays quality decision-making, drives up costs and introduces the risk that project sequencing will not support the target architecture. Extending linkages to high quality Enterprise Architecture tools enables IT strategists, enterprise architects and project portfolio managers to leverage each other's work, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the IT investment and engineering process."
